Numerology for December: Shake it Off

By Nam Hari Kaur

The month of December 2020 brings a time of restive soul-searching, combined with the desire for a dynamic change in one’s life. We are feeling an element of exhaustion from the events of this year, and yet there is a deep inner knowing that greater possibilities are being held in trust for us in 2021. Let’s break down the working parts of December, and walk away with insight and inspiration for the future.

The number 3 of December represents the themes of creativity, nurturing, food, social energy, and the Positive Mind. We definitely need to enjoy the holidays and connect with others as we are able, and unfortunately, allowed. Yes, the pandemic can appear as the “Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” yet we can make the best effort to deck the halls with some holiday lights, whilst having seasonal music playing in the air.

This works for me, and gives a safe-passage down Memory Lane to more connected and festive times. We need to lean into a “happy memory space” to help create a bridge between where we are now as a humanity and where need to go. Positive escapism has its place at this moment in time.

A really great place to escape right now is the kitchen! Since the number 3 embodies the realm of food, here’s a link to a 3 minute Youtube video on how to make Ginger Gravy.  The Kundalini tribe has always known the benefits of eating onions, garlic, and ginger. This particular gravy can be enjoyed with rice, potatoes, beans, sourdough toast, or whatever your heart desires. Make a point to get these root vegetables into your diet over the winter months and your immune system will thank you for it. Every little bit helps right now.

Number 3 also represents the liver, and if you find yourself feeling angry or depressed a 3-day lemon water fast can help to pull you out of it. Please note, only practice this if you are in reasonably good health, so check with your doctor before starting. That being said, you can go ahead and mix up about a quart of water with the juice of one or two lemons depending on how strong you like it. Then add Tupelo honey or maple syrup to taste, but not too sweet! Three days of this can really take the edge off that cranky feeling of frustration and disappointment. “Food is Mood,” so let’s be smart and kind to ourselves this holiday season.

Delving further into December there is the number 7 in the Base calculation (Base is month of 3 + 4 year= 7). The number 7 is introspective, contemplative, and always asks the question, “Why? Why is it like this?” Well, nobody has an exact answer to that right now, so let’s look at ways to elevate ourselves above the confusion and potential inertia.

Sometimes when we are in a challenging situation it can be helpful to see the experience of another who has been even more severely challenged, and come out the other side.

One of the best things you can do for yourself now is watch the movie, “The Glass Castle.”

It is based on the true story of Jeannette Walls, who as a child, along with her 3 siblings, was constantly being uprooted by a Dad who could not hold a steady job. Running from town to town the kids could never go to school and be properly educated, and their father’s alcoholism would drain the family’s finances to the point of there being no food on the table.

In one brilliant moment little Jeannette sees the dire trajectory of her life if things don’t change dramatically. As her brother and sisters are sitting on the floor mindlessly playing a card game, Jeanette declares, “They’re never going to take care of us, so we have to do it for ourselves. We’ll all go to school and start saving money so we can move out when we’re old enough.” She single-handedly implements this, as her mother is dealing with a mental health issue and can barely function.

The entire family situation evolves, not without having difficulties that are nothing short of heroic for a teenager to overcome. You can come away with something very good for yourself after watching this film. Promise.

Okay, now that we’ve stirred up a bit of inspiration, let’s get on to the good part of the forecast! In December we have a Heart number of 5, and this is our ticket to ride out of 2020. Number 5 is bold, communicative, and represents a willingness to initiate change and think outside the box.

There is a synchronistic resonance between the Heart number of December and the entire year of 2021. This is because 2021 adds up to a 5 year on the planet (2+0+2+1= 5).

Your heart will begin to have stirrings of what is possible for you next year, if you just listen. In order to enhance your ability to clearly hear and feel these messages we need to clear the Heart chakra from the disappointment and broken-heartedness of this year. A lot has gone down. Your best practice at this time is the “Meditation to Heal a Broken Heart.” This meditation “uses the pranic influence of the middle finger and its Saturn and air qualities to quell residual emotional storms.” Goodness, I think we all need that kind of medicine!

This will be especially powerful for you now, because on December 21st the mighty planets of Jupiter and Saturn are moving into Aquarius, which is the Air Element. There will be an updraft of fortifying energy to release the deadness of what we have collectively been through. It will be somewhat like standing on an open balcony and shaking out a rug that you’ve been stomping on all year long inside your house. Just watch the dust and crumbs fly away.

A bold, balanced, and open heart can accomplish anything in 2021, so now is the time to believe in yourself and the higher benevolent forces that really do want to help you. Clear yourself out a bit now, because I can hear your Guardian Angel whispering, “Hey, just give me something to work with here! I’ve got a blessing for you, and I just need a space that can hold it.”

Through the clarity of your heart may you be elevated to the protected path that connects you to all who would hold your hand in light and love. Sat Nam.
