Sharing the Light through Spiritual Movements (A Living Kriya)

By RJ

Yogi Bhajan once reasoned aloud by asking the rhetorical question: “What is the purpose of life?” to which he answered, “To elevate all, big or small.” It is in this profound reasoning that spiritual activism can be revealed as an essential component of yogic living. As any yogi or yogini already knows, change must start from within before it can be outwardly projected and manifested into a reality. This is accomplished through Generating, Organizing, and Delivering. Every ”thing” starts with an idea, (that is to say, consciousness) before it can be created.

“If you only know one kriya, then share that. Just be humble, teach it. Every student is a teacher.”
-Yogi Bhajan

It is through conscious living that movements of spiritual activism are born and positive change can occur. These movements can take time, effort, and a great deal of dedication. This is very similar to a kriya whereby completed actions of specific movements are performed to achieve a positive result and to awaken Kundalini energy.

Cosmin Mahadev Singh and his students have become that movement of spiritual activism in Las Vegas, Nevada. Starting out using various satellite locations, Cosmin has made it his mission to bring the teachings of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation to the local community. In the process, he has elevated an ever-growing number of diverse students. Part of their spiritual activism has been serving Las Vegas through its Giving Back Community Spirit Program by working with homeless shelters and charitable organizations.

“The art of happiness is to serve all, and all shall serve you.”
-Yogi Bhajan

In July 2014, Cosmin’s vision was realized with the opening of RYK Yoga and Meditation Center. RYK Yoga is the first Kundalini Yoga center of Las Vegas, but this didn’t happen overnight. While Cosmin has been serving the community by sharing the technology of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, it was time for the universal law of reciprocity to serve him in return by manifesting his vision into a reality.

The manner by which so many students, family members, and friends came together in a synchronistic movement to assist Cosmin achieve his goal can only be described as a living kriya. Many students exercised their seva through donations, while others contributed their time and talent in an effort to improve the social and environmental aspects of the community. Each selfless act and completed action generated value towards social change and higher consciousness. This kind of living kriya, if applied to all aspects of life, can be a model for global change.

“In Kundalini Yoga the most important thing is your experience. It goes right to your heart. No words can replace that experience.”
-Yogi Bhajan

I have been fortunate enough to experience, witness, and contribute a small part in this positive movement. Living firsthand through the teachings and practice of Kundalini Yoga and being part of the growing yoga community, there is no doubt that Las Vegas has become a better and brighter place. And so I am honored to share with the 3HO community the exciting news of RYK Yoga’s Grand Opening in Las Vegas, and welcome you to join in the celebration. Blessings!

RYK Yoga and Meditation center is located at 8450 W. Sahara Avenue, Suite 109, Las Vegas, Nevada 89117. The phone number is (702) 478-9600.
